Tensas Parish High School
The Louisiana Department of Education recently released statewide school graduation rates.
Louisiana's graduation rate increased 3.2 percent, moving the statewide rate to above 80 percent for the first time in the state's history. Louisiana's grad rate now sits at 81.4 percent.
"We were thrilled with our results," said Paul Nelson, Superintendent of the Tensas Parish School Board. The Tensas system's graduation rate rose to 87.5 percent, putting it above both the state and national averages.
Nelson said that with the recent 3.5 percent increase “we are now above surrounding parishes in graduation rate. The hard work of the Tensas High staff, their students and parents, and the community is beginning to payoff.”
He said the Tensas Parish graduation rate has risen 23.5 percent since the 2005-06 school year outpacing the state's growth of 16.6 percent during the same period.
Nelson said he hopes the growth continues “in this very important area.”
