Old River Complex

WATER FLOWS swiftly through one of the structures at the Old River Complex in lower Concordia Parish on Sunday. The Mississippi River at the Natchez gauge is expected to crest at approximately 57.2 feet either May 21 or 22, according Concordia Homeland Security Director Guy Murray, He said officials indicated this level “will hold on or close to 57 feet for a few days and finally begin to fall around a half a foot a day. We were really fortunate we didn’t see the amount of rainfall locally and above us the weather service was predicting last week. This has helped keep our crest from rising substantially.” He said the river would return to normal levels once a dryer weather pattern sets in. (Concordia Sentinel photo)
