The Concordia Parish Police approved 2019 millages during its regular meeting Monday night.

Millages approved included general alimony, 2.27 mills; library, 8.50 mills; health unit, 1.81 mills; drainage works/buildings, 10.0 mills; and Council on Aging, 4 mills.

In other action, the Jury agreed to advertise for a five-year lease for Black Lake and following a public hearing voted to established a 25 miles per hour speed limit on Terry Circle.

Jurors also authorized Wilkinson to sign a contract related to the acquisition and execution of a grant for Lake St. John Waterworks.

Jury Secretary-Treasurer Sandi Burley updated jurors on various projects, including Brushy Bayou, courtroom renovation, Washington Heights and the Vidalia Canal. She said all are progressing.

An occupational license was approved for Extreme Car Wash and Detail, Otis Jefferson, 4560 Hwy. 84, Vidalia.

An alcohol permit was granted to R&J’s, dba Duck’s Nest, 4273 Hwy. 568, Ferriday.

On other matters, work orders were reviewed and the Jury approved the superintendent’s material and work request list.

The Jury announced that a public hearing would be held at 10 a.m. May 23 at the Jury meeting room to hear public views on housing and community development needs of the parish. The Jury will discuss submitting an application for funding under the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant Program (LCDBG) for the fiscal year 2020-2021.

Jurors additionally voted to authorize Jury President Jimmy Wilkinson to proceed with development of the LCDBG proposal.
