Andrew Beesley

Louisiana-Monroe junior Andrew Beesley, who prepped at Natchez Cathedral, was named to the All-Louisiana college baseball second team Saturday.

Beesley, who played in the infield and outfield for ULM, was named as a utility player. He batted .329 with three home runs.

Six LSU players earned recognition on the team.

Outfielder Antoine Duplantis, shortstop Josh Smith and catcher Saul Garza were named to the first team; outfielder Zach Watson was a second-team selection; and pitcher Devin Fontenot and designated hitter Cade Beloso received honorable mention accolades.

The 28-member team was selected by a statewide panel of college baseball sports information directors and media members.

Tulane’s Kody Hoese was named the LSWA Hitter of the Year, and the Green Wave’s Hudson Haskin was tabbed as Freshman of the Year. Southeastern Louisiana’s Corey Gaconi was named Pitcher of the Year, ULM outfielder Trent Tingelstad was voted as the LSWA Newcomer of the Year and second-year skipper Kerrick Jackson of Southern was the choice as the state’s Coach of the Year.
