Monterey’s girls track team placed eighth in the Class B State Track Meet Friday in Baton Rouge.
Monterey totaled 22 points, just 2.5 points behind No. 7 Quitman.
Harlie Murray placed third in the 100-meters at 12.75 (nine-tenths of a second behind the winner), third in the 200-meters at 26.73, fourth in the long jump at 16 feet, 2.5 inches.
Layla McCall finished fifth in the long jump at 16 feet, 1 inch in her final jump, seventh in th 100-hurdles at 18.52 and 8th in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches. She was tied with Ruthie Ann Reaux of Episcopal of Acadiana, who got seventh because Reaux was the first to 4 feet, 6 inches.
Allie Lipsey had a personal best 108 feet, 1 inch in the javelin to finish sixth.
Andy Gray placed sixth in the 300-hurdles at 54.10 and ninth in the shot put at 26 feet, 7.5 inches.
Jessica Woodrum placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 71 feet, 6 inches.
Monterey’s 4x100 relay of team of Madison Green, Andy Gray, Sarah Gray and Harlie Murray placed fifth at 53.76.
Monterey’s 4x400 relay team of Aubrey Powell, Rylie Murray, Casside Pecanty and Madison Poole placed ninth at 5:15.70.
For the boys, Trey Boyd placed eighth in the 300-hurdles at 48.01.
Ian Dryg placed ninth in the discus with a toss of 92 feet, 7 inches.
