A St, Joseph man and Vidalia man were arrested Monday after leading a Louisiana state trooper on a car chase from Louisiana 568 to St. Joseph at speeds close to 110 miles per hour.

Vadual M. Gray, 22, 100 Elm St., St. Joseph, and Horatio A. Gray Jr., 18, 1108 Apple St., Vidalia, were booked.

Master Trooper Scott Moreau said the state trooper noticed a 2016 Toyota Corolla going well over the 55-mile per house zone on Louisiana 568. Moreau said the driver did not yield and led the trooper on a high-speed chase into Tensas Parish.

Moreau said deputies from the Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Office and officers of the Waterproof Police Department joined the chase.

According to Moreau, the driver of Toyota Corolla struck another vehicle and came to a stop. Moreau said the driver and passenger of the Toyota sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.

Moreau said upon searching the Toyota, troopers found a cache of marijuana and schedule IV controlled drug substances as well as a firearm with the identification numbers scratched off.

Both men were being held in the Concordia Parish Jail with no bond set as of Tuesday morning.

Vadual Gray was charged with speeding over 90 mph, no driver’s license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with obliterated numbers, carrying of weapons and controlled drug substance, possession of a controlled schedule IV drug substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, aggravated flight from an officer and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Horatio A. Gray Jr. was booked on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a firearm with obliterated numbers, possession of a firearm with controlled drug substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer.
