Wiley booked on sex charges
A Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Correctional Officer, who previously served as an assistant police chief in Ferriday and Vidalia, was charged with sexual misconduct and malfeasance in office on Thursday, May 31, for alleged improper sexual contact with an inmate.
Bruce L. Wiley, 48, 1103 Peach St., Vidalia, faced charges of malfeasance in office and three counts of sexual conduct prohibited with persons in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Wiley posted a $36,000 bond and was released after his arrest.
CPSO Warden Lance Moore said the investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct began late last month.
“We do not condone this type of action from any of our employees,” Moore said. “Cases like this are immediately investigated for the safety of all those involved. Federal law mandates that anytime an allegation of sexual misconduct is made, the correctional facility must investigate the claims immediately."
Moore said the case is still under investigation.
“Federal statutes say we have to have coordinators specifically for that type of investigation,” Moore said. “The Prison Rape Elimination Act mandates all of this.”
