Woodmen of the World beat Franklin State Bank 5-3 in an 11 and 12 year old Dixie Youth baseball match up May 13.

With one out in the first, Laken Bradley hit a double into left field to set the game’s tone for WOW. Bradley would later score in the inning along with Rylan Thomas and Thatcher P.

Trip Reeves contributed in the game by hitting a single in the third inning which scored Thomas for a second time.

Additionally, Thomas was starting pitcher for WOW. He put in one inning on the mound and recorded three strike outs.

Chandler Olivier pitched two innings and struck three players out.

Bradley closed for WOW and had two strike outs.

Franklin State Bank staged a comeback in the third inning, fueled by back-to-back doubles by Drew Carroll and Luke Nichols.

Carroll hit his double to straight center scoring a runner for FSB.

Nichols would bring Carroll home with a right field double the next at bat.

Lajamiean Johnson was given starting pitching duties for FSB. Johnson put in 1 2/3 innings and had three strike outs.

Jonathan Tabor pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief. He had four strike outs.

Fussell 2 – WOW 1

Fussell and Woodmen of the World held each other off in a defensive match where only two hits were recorded in a May 14 game.

Fussell pitching squad made up of Caiden Ward, Carl Williams and Laylen Blackmon allowed only two hits and tagged WOW with a total of 10 strikeouts.

Ward was starting pitcher and lasted one inning and had one strikeout.

Williams spent three innings on the mound and had nine strikeouts.

Blackmon contributed one inning in pitching duties.

Not to be outdone, the WOW pitching duo of Laken Bradley and Rylan Thomas put together a no hitter against Fussell.

WOW starting pitcher Bradley went 4 2/3 strong innings on the mound and recorded 10 strikeouts.

Thomas pitched 1/3 inning and struck out one Fussell batter.

Fussell and WOW both scored once in the second and remained tied until the fifth inning when Ward would cross home plate breaking the tie.

The two hits in the game were doubles from WOW’s Nolan Smith and Anlkan Walker in the second inning.

Fussell 6 - Sonic 5

In yet another close game, Fussell beat Sonic 6-5 on May 17.

Fussell used a big four-run sixth inning to get past the Sonic team. Sonicled 4-1 going into the last inning.

The offensive onslaught was led by a double from Tanner Tarver and a  single from Christopher Hawthorne. Noah Lord contributed with a single in the third for Fussell.

Big hit of the night went to Garrett Hunt.

Hunt put on a hitting clinic in the matchup with a huge out-of-the-park home run in the fourth. Hunt also hit a double and scored three times for Sonic.

Owen McDonald and Brett Austin each hit a double. McDonald scored in the fourth for Sonic.

Carl Williams was starting pitcher for Fussell. He worked one inning on the mound and recorded one strikeout.

Laylen Blackmon had one inning of action on the mound and had two strikeouts for Fussell.

Caiden Ward contributed with five strong innings on the mound and had 10 strikeouts for Fussell.

Sonic’s starting pitcher was Michael Ramshur. He spent one inning on the mound.

Not only did Hunt hit big, but he pitched strong with three innings on the mound and nine strikeouts.

Brett Austin had two innings and six strikeouts for Sonic.
