FP comes from behind against Oak Grove

Franklin Parish scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Oak Grove 5-4 April 1 in Winnsboro.

“We had one hit through six innings,” said Franklin Parish head coach Rick Berry.

Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the seventh with two men out. three Franklin Parish batters walked, another reached on an error and Baylor Cobb doubled to tie the game t 4-4.

Cade Waston singled to win the game on a walk-off.

“Our boys showed a lot of grit,” Berry said. “They are tired. We’ve played 16 games counting junior varsity over 14 days.”

The Patriots managed only three hits, but committed only one error.

“I was proud of our defense,” Berry said.

Watson drew two walks.

Franklin Parish is sitting at No. 20.

The Patriots dropped two to Neville Friday and Saturday. A third game was stopped with the Patriots trailing 7-0.

Neville won the first game on Friday 11-1 in Monroe and the second game 12-0 in Winnsboro.

“We had five players out with the stomach virus,” Berry said.

“But we still have to play. I’m not saying we would have won, but I think it would have been a little different,” Berry added.

Franklin Parish has West Ouachita the end of this week as the regular season winds down.
