First Cotton Bloom

AIDEN FLETCHER and Anne Belle McLemore show the first cotton bloom of Franklin Parish for the season. Aiden is the grandson and Anne Belle is the daughter of Kirby and Michelle McLemore. The bloom, an OPL 1518 variety of cotton, was gathered on the McLemore Farm on the border of Chase and Gilbert, April 2. The McLemores have been farming for 31 years and planted 661 acres of cotton this season. (Sun photo by Monica Huff)
