Northeast Louisiana Ambulance Service (NELA) will continue to provide exclusive emergency and non-emergency ambulance services in Tensas Parish for at least five more years.
The Tensas Parish Police Jury voted unanimously Tuesday to renew its contract with the Winnsboro-based company through July 24, 2024.
“It is the biggest vote of confidence we could possibly receive from a governing body,” said NELA spokesman Shane Scott.
Tensas Parish residents are not billed for ambulance transportation. Instead, they pay a parish-wide tax to cover the costs.
NELA has been Tensas Parish’s sole ambulance provider for 16 years. The company also covers Franklin, Richland, Madison and Catahoula parishes in northeast Louisiana.
