Ponytails off to strong start, beat Bastrop 12-2

Winnsboro Ponytails All-Star team won their first sub district game against Bastrop to a tune of 12-2, June 23.

The Ponytails scored in every inning and ended the game scoring four points in a big fifth inning.

Ava Foster led her team in the circle. Foster had a strong performance pitching three innings and striking out six Bastrop players, allowing no hits and walking only one.

Karley Ferrington pitched two innings in relief. Ferrington struck out three, allowed four hits and walked no one.

Additionally, Ferrington had a strong offensive showing, going two-for-three at the plate with a double and collected three RBI.

Foster helped her cause, also going two-for-two at the plate with a double and two RBI.

Jadyn Hutchinson had two hits in the matchup for Winnsboro.

Leadoff hitter Aydenn McCain walked twice and had a hit for the Ponytails.

Avaree McCain had a hit, walked once and had a RBI.

Second baseman Kerrigan Ezell had one hit, walked once and batted one runner in for her team.

The Ponytails had a total of nine hits in the game.

The Ponytails are playing in Winnsboro through Wednesday.
