Sartin's grand slam leads VFW over Citizens

VFW’s, Anne Elise Sartin, highlighted a second-inning offensive showcase with a grand slam homerun against Citizens Progressive Bank, May 23. Eleven runs were scored in the second as VFW went on to beat Citizens 12-1.

Sartin was credited with the victory for VFW. She allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out seven.

Taylor Biggs drove in two runs for VFW while going two-for-two with a triple and a single.

Ally Roberts followed suit going two-for-two with two singles.

Maddie Cruse drove in two runs with two singles in the contest.

Kaydence Collinson and Madison Truelove each had an RBI with a single against Citizens.

Maddie Middleton and Skylar Biggs had a single each for VFW.

Harli Vendevere toed the rubber for Citizens Progressive Bank. She went three innings and struck out one.

Dallas Arnold had the sole hit for Citizens Progressive with a single.

Citizens 3 – VFW 1

Both teams were strong in the circle in the second game of a double header, but Citizens Progressive Bank was just a little big stronger at the plate in a victory over VFW.

Citizens scored two points in the second and one in the third to secure the win. VFW’s only point came in the third, and VFW lost despite out-hitting Citizens seven to two.

Harli Vandevere led Citizens to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits, one run while striking out seven and walking no one.

Venevere helped her cause offensively by hitting a single in the matchup.

Victoria Mays contributed with a single for Citizens.

Madison Truelove pitched the complete game for VFW. She lasted six innings, allowed two hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking no one.

Anne Elise Sartin, Taylor Biggs and Kalee Young hit doubles in the matchup for VFW.

Biggs also had a single and recorded an RBI.

Ally Roberts had two singles and a stolen base for VFW while Maddie Middleton had a single against Citizens.
