Winnsboro 7/8 All Stars post 11-4 record, heading to state

Winnsboro’s seven and eight year old all stars are headed to the state tournament in Ruston with a 11-4 overall record after four tournaments. The state tournament begins July 4 and runs through July 8.

Winnsboro recently won the Slim Strong Tourney in Sterlington with a 5-0 record and won their sub-district tourney in Jonesville 3-0.

Last weekend Winnsboro won two and lost two games at the district tournament on their home field.

Winnsboro 11 -

West Carroll 4

The all star team started strong on June 27 with a victory over West Carroll 11-4.

Aaron Johnston went three-for-three at the plate with two triples and a double. He recorded two RBI.

Drew Dickson went two-for-three for the game with a triple and a RBI.

Carson Jackson went two-for-three batting two singles.

Jaxon Dickey and Cam Lance went one-for-three with one double and one RBI each.

Brayden Bassett went one-for-three with one RBI during the game.

Elijah Hunt and Baylen Stephenson went one-for-three. Hunt recorded one RBI, and Stephenson had two RBI.

Winnsboro 14- Mangham 4

In their second game, Winnsboro beat Mangham convincingly 14-4.

Johnston again had a strong showing at the plate going three-for-three with one home run, one double and four RBI.

Byrce Blackmon went two-for-three with one RBI.

Bassett went two-for-two with one double, one home run and two RBI.

Peyton Fuller went two-for-two in the contest, and Baylen Stephenson went two-for-two with one double and two RBI.

Dickson went one-for-two with one double and one RBI, and Jackson went one-for-three with one RBI.

West Monroe 17 -

Winnsboro 2

West Monroe pulled away from Winnsboro on June 30 as the Ouachita Parish team won 17-2.

Jackson Blossom went one-for-two with one double and a RBI.

Johnston went one-for-two and recorded Winnsboro’s other RBI.

Jackson went one-for-two during the game.

Rayville 21 - Winnsboro 11

In a high scoring affair, Rayville got the best of Winnsboro 21-11, but that did not stop the all star team from hitting the ball.

Jackson went three-for-four at the plate with one double and one RBI.

Blossom went two-for-three with two doubles and recorded three RBI.

Johnston went two-for-three with one double and two RBI while Stephenson went two-for-three with one double and one RBI.

Dickson and Dickey went one-for-three with one RBI each.

Elijah Hunt, Cam Lance and Bassett went one-for-three each.

Noah McMahon recorded an RBI in the game.
