Monroe police arrested a Monroe woman on suspicion of second-degree murder, or killing with specific intent, last week after authorities were notified of a shooting on Standifer Avenue.
Police found a black male with a single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, who was unidentified in the report, later died as a result of his injuries.
A witness at the scene confirmed Monique Andreaka Haynes, 36, of 318 Woodale Drive, No. 37, Monroe, was the shooter.
During questioning, she denied any involvement in the shooting.
She was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.
