Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a Monroe woman on suspicion of disturbing the peace by drunkenness last week after authorities were notified of a woman sitting on the side of the road.
A deputy found Amanda Gail Shivers, 33, of 319 Cedar Brook, Monroe, sitting on Roland Road's white fog line, apparently asleep.
The deputy announced his presence twice but received no response. When the deputy tapped Shivers' shoulder, Shivers said, “Get the f*** away from me,” according to the June 8 arrest report.
“Arrestee then attempted to get up again at which time I attempted to place her in handcuffs,” stated the arrest report. “Arrestee began actively resisting, pulling away from (the deputy) and trying to kick.”
After a struggle, deputies placed Shivers in the patrol unit.
En route to Ouachita Correctional Center, Shivers “continually screamed and cussed” at deputies.
Deputies detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from Shivers.
She was booked at OCC on the above charges as well as on one count of resisting an officer.
