Monroe Police arrested a West Monroe man on suspicion of simple burglary from a motor vehicle last week after the vehicle's owner showed authorities video surveillance footage of the incident.

Officers arrested Jamarrh Michael McAllister, 19, of 2045 Clover Dr., West Monroe, for a vehicle burglary that occurred at 2606 Magellan Dr.

McAllister was observed on the victim’s video surveillance camera going into the garage and breaking into a brown 2004 Toyota Tundra, according to the arrest report. The video showed McAllister inside the vehicle, though it did not appear he took anything from it.

Officers made contact with McAllister at 2200 block of Anita Lane where he was advised of his rights. McAllister was identified by the victim.

The suspect told police he broke into several other vehicles throughout the city.

McAllister was arrested, handcuffed and transported to Ouachita Correctional Center where he was booked.
