Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a Dallas, Texas woman on suspicion of possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute last week after authorities observed the suspect's vehicle leave the roadway.

Persephanie Leigh Ballew, 23, of 2613 Frankford Road, Dallas, Texas, told the deputy she was trying to eat and drive.

When asked if she had any illegal items in her vehicle, Ballew said she had “weed,” according to the June 8 arrest report.

During a search of the automobile, the deputy found a bag of marijuana, a marijuana cigarette and a bottle of 55 ecstasy tablets.

During questioning, Ballew claimed ownership of the marijuana but said the ecstasy tablets did not belong to her. She said she did not know how the ecstasy tablets got inside her prescription pill bottle.

She was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center on suspicion of improper lane use, possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana.
