Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a West Monroe man last week on suspicion of cyberstalking after authorities were notified of the suspect making a threat over social media.
Deputies arrested Jesus M. Mauricio, 18, of 1232 Fern St., West Monroe, after the victim advised authorities that Mauricio threatened her. The victim provided authorities with a screen shot of a post on social media.
The post, which showed Mauricio with a firearm pointed at the camera, was accompanied with the caption reading, “you’ll get what you deserve one day, b***h,” according to the arrest report. The victim claimed she feared for her safety and believed Mauricio would harm her.
During questioning, Mauricio claimed he published the post because he was mad at the victim. He also told deputies he would never harm the victim and he wished he would have not made the post on social media. Mauricio claimed he took the photo of him holding the firearm prior to making the post and that he only chose the photo because it was the only photo he had available at the time he composed the post.
Mauricio was taken into custody with no further incident and was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center where he was booked.
