West Monroe police arrested a Monroe woman on suspicion of cruelty to the infirmed last week after a nursing home in West Monroe wrongdoing against one of the home's residents.

Rachel Danielle Manning, 24, of 343 Huenefeld Road, Monroe, was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center on the charge.

The Guest House reported the victim was left to sit on a toilet for one-and-a-half hours to two hours, according to the April 5 arrest report. The victim activated an emergency button six times in an effort to request help, but none came from the victim's caregiver.

Manning was the caregiver. Instead of assisting the victim, she would turn off the emergency button and refuse to help him, according to the arrest report.

“The victim reported Manning would tell him she was too busy to help him,” stated the arrest report. “Witnesses reported hearing Manning say that the victim was 'going to learn today.'”

During questioning, Manning asked to have an attorney present.
