Lt. Col. (Retired) Kenneth Edwin Booth, 97, of West Monroe, retired U. S. Air Force, died Friday, April 5, 2019. Funeral services were at noon Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Visitation was from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, at a later date.

Johnny Ray Johnson, 59 , of Monroe, a masonry contractor, died Monday, April 8, 2019. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marilyn D. Lacas

Funeral services for Mrs. Marilyn D. Lacas, 70, retired kitchen manager, of Chatham, were at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Caney Lake Baptist Church in Chatham. Interment was at the church cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. She died Sunday, March 31, 2019.

Sheryl Rountree

Sheryl Rountree, 74, of West Monroe, died April 7, 2019. Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Interment was in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe.

Syble Joyce Thomas

Funeral services for Mrs. Syble Joyce Thomas, 76, homemaker, of Monroe, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Griffin Funeral Home, Monroe. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. She died Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Willis E. Watson

Willis E. Watson, 81, of Monroe, a retired Monroe Police Captain, died Monday, April 8, 2019. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the funeral home. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Garland W. Webb

Garland W. Webb, born on September 6, 1940, entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 2, 2019. He was a native of West Monroe and a resident of Central, LA.

Garland began his career with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Louisiana Council No. 17 in 1967 as a staff representative and held that position until 1981, when he was elected President of the organization. He went on to serve as President until his retirement in 2008. During his tenure with LA Council #17, he was elected to serve as the Southern Region Vice President of AFSCME International, until his retirement in 2008. Garland also served on the Executive boards in the interests of state employees. He was inducted into the Louisiana AFL-CIO Hall of Fame in 2010. He was currently serving as a member of the Board of Review of the Louisiana Work Force Commission. He was a member of Blackwater Methodist Church in Central, LA and he loved LSU sports, gardening, camping and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Carter Webb; daughter, Stacey Webb McKinnie (Randy); two stepdaughters, Tammy S. Meador (Pam) and Terri Parnell-Allison (Greg); stepson, Randy Meador (Eleanor); brother, Fred (Ann) Webb and niece, Dawn Kelm (Allan); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Von Webb; parents, William and Marteal Webb and son-in-law, Steve Parnell.

Interment was at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA, on April 8, 2019.

Mary Louise Wicks

Mary Louise Wicks, 70, of Monroe, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will be at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
