Edgar Leon “Buck” Fox, age 75, died at his home in Lafayette, LA on November 16, 2018. His death came after a courageous four year battle with prostate cancer. Buck was a native of West Monroe, LA, but his work in the flooring and carpet business took him to several large cities in Louisiana and Mississippi before finally settling in Lafayette five years ago.

He is survived by Jennifer Chavis Fox, his loving wife of 57 years, son John and his wife Allison of Lafayette, two grandchildren, Will who attends the University of Louisiana of Lafayette, and Wyatt a high school student and athlete in Lafayette; son Glen and his wife Lara, and children William, Sadie, Connor of Longview, TX; brother George F. Fox, Jr. and wife Jane of Lake Providence, LA; niece Rebecca Fox Banos of Houston, TX; niece Susan Fox Beck of Fairhope, AL; and numerous other cousins and relatives. Buck was predeceased by his parents Susie Sholars Fox and George Francis (Frank) Fox of West Monroe, LA.

Buck was an outstanding high school athlete, graduated from Northeast Louisiana State University in Monroe, LA and began his career as a teacher and coach at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He was later a salesman, and a regional manager for LD Brinkman’s wholesale flooring and carpet business in New Orleans, Shreveport, and Jackson, MS. He retired to Lafayette to be close to his son John and family, and to attend every athletic event that his grandsons participated in. Buck enjoyed hunting and fishing from an early age, as well as the company and friendship of those who also enjoyed these same activities.

Buck’s humor, wisdom, and unique spirit will be sadly missed by his family and legion of friends with whom he shared his many gifts, talents, and time. Buck never met a stranger and anyone who met him truly loved him.

At his request there will be a private cremation, and later a celebration of life in Buck’s memory.  The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 535 Garfield St in Lafayette, La 70501.  The celebration of life will begin at noon with a memorial program with plenty of time afterwards for family and friends to gather, meet and reminisce with food and refreshments available.
