The Origin Bank RiverMarket presents Love Your Community Day in Downtown Monroe, on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 316 South Grand Street.

If you or someone you know have a love for books, authors including T.S Murphy will be there to sign books and talk about their works. Murphy is a dog, cat, and bunny mom originally from a small town in Oklahoma. She lives in Northeast Louisiana and has independently published a series called “The Imperfect Girls.”

Come learn more about her and many other authors including, Tassa Avara, Monique Shantay, Shannon Landry, Nicole Brown, Randy Denmon, Linda Cannon, and Ricky Pittman at the author book signing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Ouachita Parish Public Library’s Bookmobile will be on site all day where you can find several works by these authors. The Ouachita Parish Public Library will also be announcing the winner of their writing contest at noon.

Love Your Community Day is a day full of shopping opportunities from local vendors like Southern Chic Boutique, Color Street Nails, and Krayola Snacks. Kona Ice will have snocones of different flavors to cool down the day with. Custer’s Kettle Corn sells a variety of kettle corn including the popular flavor, caramel apple and will have it along with many other flavors. Don’t miss out on an opportunity for quilts, photographs, kettle corn, snocones and more.

If you are looking to get more involved in your community, several non-profit organizations will be on site to let you know how you can support them and get involved. Advent Life, Camp Quality USA, Child Advocacy Center of NELA, Wellspring, and American Red Cross are some of the non-profit organizations that will have information booths all day.

These non-profit organizations have served the NELA community throughout the years.

Local gospel singer Angel Starr performs at 11am. Angel has been singing since the age of five. In 2014 she released her EP titled “#Acapella” and has since worked with Dupree Owens to produce “I Know Jesus Acapella”. Don’t miss out on her performance.

This is an event for the whole family, so bring the kids to enjoy the Kids’ Zone all day. The Kids’ Zone features Once Upon a Party jumpers, Ouachita Parish Public Library Bookmobile, and Danny Barton the Magician.

During Love Your Community Day, the first annual Little Miss Ouachita River Pageant will be held from 2:30-4 p.m.
