The Ferriday Rotary Club announced this week that applications are available for Ben Green Memorial Scholarships to be given to four seniors in Concordia Parish.

Guidance counselors at the parish high schools have application forms and information.

Jeanine Herrington is chairman of the Scholarship Committee.

Criteria for the scholarships are based not only on academic achievements, but civic involvement and community service as well.

The award for 2019 will be a $2,000 one-time award for a graduating senior at each of the four high schools in Concordia Parish – Ferriday High, Vidalia High, Monterey and Delta Charter.

Committee judges include Mignonne Ater, James Lee, Donna Maroon, Bobby Sasser and Mark Welch.

Winners will be announced by Friday, April 26.

Winners and parents/guardians will be invited to a Rotary Luncheon in the recipient’s honor on Thursday, May 9.

In addition, a special presentation of the scholarship will be made at the respective graduation ceremonies.
