Charges against Bruce Wiley were dropped last week during proceedings in Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia.
Wiley, 48, of Vidalia, who was working as a Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Correctional Officer last year, previously served as an assistant police chief in Ferriday and Vidalia.
He was charged with sexual misconduct and malfeasance in office in May 2018 for alleged improper sexual contact with an inmate.
District Attorney Brad Burget said the charges were dismissed due to a lack of evidence.
“We looked at the case and it lacked evidence for a sustainable prosecution,” Burget said.
