Concordia 4-H

Three Concordia 4-H youth represented Concordia Parish 4-H and Louisiana 4-H at the National 4-H Meat Identification Contest held recently in Kansas City, Missouri.   They were from left, John Garrett Patrick, Concordia Parish Academy; Sadi White , Concordia Parish Academy; Nicholaus Pryor, Ferriday High School; and Joe P. Bairnsfather, Extension Agent (4-H)/Meat Team Coach. The team placed 13th in the nation and team member Nicholaus Pryor received a perfect 300 total points on the six wholesale/retail judging classes presented for the competition.

The team participated in a meat training event held in Overbrook, Kansas prior to the competition at Santa Fe Trail Meats.  They also had the opportunity to tour Oklahoma State University campus and the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, Kansas.   The national competition was held in the meats lab at Kansas State University and the awards banquet at the American Royal in Kansas City, Kansas.
