Light poles

AN 18-WHEELER took down eight utility poles after turning on Virginia Avenue in Ferriday early Monday morning. Ferriday Chief Deputy Herman Curry said the driver of the Carroll-Fulmer truck told police that he was on E.E. Wallace in route to Georgia when his GPS indicated he should turn right on Virginia. His truck hit utility wires, bringing down poles. Entergy and AT&T were making repairs Monday and Tuesday. Curry said the driver, Ronnie Woods of Lake Park, FL, was cited for careless operation. Entergy and AT&T are still investigating the accident. Entergy reported that the truck brought eight poles down. Approximately 100 electric customers were affected. (Concordia Sentinel photo)
