Two men have been arrested in the shooting death of a Ferriday man, who was reported missing on Sunday.

Concordia Parish Chief Deputy David Hedrick said Fredrick McCray Jr. died of a single gunshot wound. His body was found hidden under a pile of wood next to an abandoned building near Bayou Levee Road at the old Huntington stadium on Fisherman Drive.

"This is a terrible tragedy and we are asking everyone to pray for the family and friends of the victim," Hedrick said.

Deputies arrested one suspect in Vidalia on Monday -- Jimmy O’Neal Lewis, 48, of 200 Smith Lane, Ferriday. He was charged with first-degree murder, Hedrick said. Lewis is being held at Concordia Parish Correctional Facility without bond.

A second suspect, Cedric Tennessee of Ferriday, was arrested in New Orleans where he allegedly fled after McCray’s death. A first-degree murder warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Hedrick said investigators believe McCray gave the two suspects a ride in his car Sunday and was shot.

McCray was a teacher at Morgantown School in Natchez.

Hedrick commended deputies John Cowan, Chad Fuqua and Sam King for their work on the case.
