Tug boat

A TOWBOAT powers two rows of barges through the Jonesville Locks and Dam on Black River on Saturday. The facility along LA 124 south of Jonesville was constructed in 1972 and is situated 25 miles above the mouth of Black River. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Ouachita-Black Rivers Navigation Project was initiated in 1902 and features a 337-mile long waterway. The navigable portion stretches from Camden, AR, to Jonesville, where the Ouachita meets the Tensas and Little rivers to form the Black River. (Concordia Sentinel photo)
