Sue Cox Davis

Graveside service for Sue Cox Davis, 61, of Monterey, were heldSaturday, June 29, 2019 at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Natchez, MS, officiated by Rev. Glenn Harrigill. Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Davis was born November 28, 1957 and passed away June 27, 2019.


Ida Jo Evans

Funeral services for Ida Jo Evans, 88, of Monroe/Foules were held Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Zion Baptist Church in Foules, with the Rev. John L. Perry officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Evans died June 19, 2019.

Survivors include one son Calvin Perkins, Ferriday; two daughters, Rebecca Churchman, Swartz and Rev. Patty Evans, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Willie Mae Evans, Lake Charles and Cilia Flowers, Flowers, Miss. and 16 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dejuandrea Evans, Dylan Evans, Quintavous Evans, Jaques Briggs, and Henry Bracey.


Oscar Nealy Finley

Funeral services for Oscar Nealy Finley, 87, of Monterey, were held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday with Rev Joel Ford and Bro. Danny Cole officiating.  Internment followed at Lone Pine Cemetery, Monterey, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Oscar Nealy Finley was born on Thursday, September 10, 1931 in Eva and passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at Independence.   He was a resident of Monterey and  a member of the Eva United Pentecostal Church.

Oscar Proudly served his country in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict.


Willie James

Funeral services for Willie James, 58, of Monroe, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Sicily Island with Rev. Evertt Shiele officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home.

Mr. James died Thursday, June 27, 2019.

He is survived by his daughter Wysheka Mane Jones, Houston, Texas; mother Mandy Brooks, Sicily Island; sisters, Patricia Brooks Bonner and Carol Brooks, both of Breaux Bridge, Marcie Brooks and Mamie Brooks, both of Sicily Island; one brother Kevin Brooks, Baton Rouge; additional siblings, Claudia Collins and Willie Collins Jr., Angela Berry, Damy Berry, Eddie Berry Jr. and Johnnie Ross.

Janet S. Quinn

Janet S. Quinn, 67, of Ingram, TX, passed away on June 28, 2019, at her home in Ingram, TX. She was born in Monroe, to D.A. and LaVerne Shell on October 13, 1951. She married Patrick J. Quinn on December 14, 1984 in West Monroe.

She went to school at Monroe, and was a graduate of Ouachita Parish Technical School. She worked as a farmer, housewife, and mother for 23 years in Monterey before moving to Ingram, TX. She was involved in Louisiana Farm Bureau, Notre Dame Catholic Church and Saint Peter Upon The Water. She received several commendations from the various Catholic organizations.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.

Janet is survived by her husband Patrick; her son Henry Ford, Jr. and his wife Deanna; her brother Richard Shell and his wife Gieleen; her nephew Brad and his wife Whitney and their two children; two step-children; and four step-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, followed by a Rosary from 7-8 p.m. 

Funeral Services were held at 1:30 pm, Monday, July 1, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with The Most Reverend Mike Boulette of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories in Kerrville.

Pallbearers were Jeff Sirianni, Mark Anderson, Brad Shell, John Krause, Tal Taliaferro and Richard Quinn.

Memorials may be given to Notre Dame Catholic Church and Saint Peter Upon The Water
