Funeral services for Jared Mount, 28, of Monterey will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, 15 Lismore Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oswalt Cemetery, Lismore, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Jared Mount was born on Friday, October 2, 1987 in Natchez, MS and passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a resident of Monterey and a member of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Bubba Mount.

Jared is survived by his parents Joe and Nora Mount of Monterey; two sons, Charles Ashton Mount and Robert Preston Blake Mount, both of Monterey; three sisters, Mandy Tiffee and her husband Tom of Monterey, Stephanie Book of Monterey and Payton Mount of Sandy Lake; paternal grandmother Linda Mount of Lismore; maternal grandparents  Gerald and Corrine Fisher of Dry Prong; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Curt Mount, Brandon ALexander, Charles Ward, Jacob Perry, Buster Ford and Jason Ellis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Tiffee, Stephen Myers, Ernie Thompson, David Book, David Pecanty, Perry Pecanty, Chad Pugh, Allen Whitehead, Jack Cavitt, Garland Randall and Pete Mount 

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday from 5 p.m. until  8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 and from moon until time of the service Thursday, Nov.5, 2015 at Lismore Baptist Church.

Margarutte Lewis

Funeral services for Margarutte Lewis, 73, of Ferriday will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 from mt. Zion Baptist Church in Wildsville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lewis was born Dec. 27, 1941 in Frogmore to the union of Albert and Pearl Richardson Lewis and passed away October 29, 2015 at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2015 at the funeral home.

Karl Nix

Funeral services for Karl Nix, 58 of Sicily Island will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 from St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Nix was born July 30, 1957 in Ferriday to the union of Reed and Annie Nix. He passed away October 24, 2015 at Riverland Medical Center.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at Concordia Funeral Home.

James William Nixon, Jr. 

Funeral services for James William Nixon, Jr., 74, of Ferriday were held Monday, November 2, 2015 at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday  with Bro Joe Cook officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Natchez, MS, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. 

James was born on Friday, June 13, 1941 in Natchez, MS and passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at Riverland Medical Center. He was owner and operator of Nixon City Auto Parts. 

He was preceded in death by his parents James William Nixon Sr. and Jo Marie Walker Nixon.

Survivors include his wife Juanita Nixon of Ferriday; four daughters, Janeane King of Gilbert, Donna Polansky of IN, Arlene and her husband Justin Green of Monterey and Karen and her husband David Yates Jr. of Madison, MS; a sister Margaret Rossetti and her husband Floyd of Vicksburg, MS; five grandsons, Glen Whittington, Jason Whittington, James Richardson, Terry Polansky and Zachery Green; six granddaughters, Nicki Alkire, Patty Trackwell, Heather Fiorillo, Kailey Fourmy, Kelsi Yates and Abbi Yates. 

He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Charles Sanders, Jason Whittington, David Yates, Glen Whittington, Kim Kinsley and Justin Green.

Honorary pallbearers were Bud Cupit, Rodney Smith, C.J. Bonnette and Zachery Green.

Lynell 'Pat' Seward

Funeral services for Lynell "Pat" Seward, 75, of Ferriday, will be held at  10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday with Bro. Mark Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Rodgers Cemetery, Clayton, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. 

Pat Seward was born on Thursday, January 25, 1940 in Natchez, MS and passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. 

He was preceded in death by his parents George Seward and Artie Seward; his wife Linda Seward; a brother Marion Seward and two sisters, Mary Faye Seward and Georgia Ann Seward. 

Survivors include a son Johnny Seals Sr. of Ferriday; two daughters,  Lesa Jackson and her husband Tommy of Mooringsport and Misty Seward of Ferriday; sister-in-law Cathy Micheau of Ferriday; cousins-Guy Seward and Joe Seward of Monroe.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Justin Rojas, Shelton Seals, Chris Seals, Byron Pool Jr., Tony Wall, Brian McJimsey, Dillon Seals, Cody Seals and Tyler Morace.

 Laverne McNeely Moore

Funeral services for LaVerne McNeely Moore, 79, of Ferriday, were held, along with her husband’s funeral service, Edgar Moore, Jr,. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Lismore Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Cullum officiating. Interment followed at Lismore Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

LaVerne McNeely Moore was born on Thursday, October 22, 1936 in Lismore. She passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at St Francis Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Ferriday. LaVerne retired from Louisiana Department of Social Services where she was a social worker. She was also a school teacher. LaVerne was a member of the Eastern Star and DAR. Most of all, she was a devoted mother and wife, she loved to sew, quilt, cook, spend time outdoors, growing plants and gardening; LaVerne and Edgar enjoyed traveling and always had company. They were charter members of Westside Baptist Church. She served in many different roles in the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fount McNeely and Mary Edith Harp McNeely; one son, Massey Moore; sister, Juanita Crouch, Maurice Willson, James McNeely, Bobby Ray McNeely, and Pat McNeely, Sr. 

Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Edgar Massey Moore, Jr.; daughter Amanda Hinton and husband Douglas of Monroe, son Mark Moore and wife Wanda of West Monroe and son, Seth Moore and wife Pauline of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Ricky and Rebecca Hinton, Beth and Gregoire Antonelli, Shea and Joni Moore, Andrew and Laureen Hinton, Sarah Bearden, Whitney Moore, Allie Moore and Blake Cooper, Ashton Moore and Peyton Moore; great-grandchildren, Jaden Moore, Reece Hinton, Trey Adam, Ty Moore, Abram Hinton and Easton Moore; daughter-in-law, Rose.

Edgar Massey Moore Jr.

Funeral services for Edgar Massey Moore, Jr., 88, of Ferriday, were held along with the funeral service for his wife, LaVerne McNeely Moore on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Lismore Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Cullum officiating. Interment followed at Lismore Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. 

Edgar Moore was born on January 12, 1927 in Wortham, TX to Edgar Massey Moore, Sr. and Velma Cummings Moore. He passed away peacefully Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Azalea Estates in Monroe just three days after his beloved wife of 60 years died. Edgar enjoyed a variety of work, he started out working in the oil field industry and particularly liked seismograph work for oilfield drilling. It was his work that brought Edgar to Ferriday where he met LaVerne and started their family. He worked as a mechanic in the farming and agriculture industry and he ventured into buying and selling, which was work that he loved the most, he bought and sold a little bit of everything from scrap metal to collectables and farm equipment. He loved trading and the “art of making the deal”. He enjoyed the time he spent with his kids and grandchildren. He always had a soft spot in his heart for animals of every kind. Edgar and LaVerne enjoyed traveling, having company, and sitting outside watching their squirrels and birds.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne McNeely Moore; his parents; one son, Massey Moore; sister, Margaret Matheson and sister, Ila May Baker. 

Survivors include, daughter, Amanda Hinton and husband Douglas of Monroe; son Mark Moore and wife Wanda of West Monroe and son, Seth Moore and wife Pauline of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Ricky and Rebecca Hinton, Beth and Gregoire Antonelli, Shea and Joni Moore, Andrew and Laureen Hinton, Sarah Bearden, Whitney Moore, Allie Moore and Blake Cooper, Ashton Moore and Peyton Moore; great-grandchildren, Jaden Moore, Reece Hinton, Trey Adam, Ty Moore, Abram Hinton and Easton Moore; daughter-in-law, Rose; brother, Robert Moore and wife Joyce, sister, Betty Eschberger and husband George; and sister, Edna Ruth Denton and husband Mel.

Barbara Rae Reeves

Funeral services for Barbara Rae Reeves, 71 of Port Barre, were held Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday. Interment follow at Highland Park Cemetery, Sicily Island, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. 

Barbara was born on Wednesday, June 7, 1944 in Morton, MS and passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Port Barre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff Ray Reeves and Eunice Kelly Reeves and one brother Edward Reeves.

Survivors include a son Jeff Follmer and his wife Shera of Monterey; three daughters, Tammy Stevens and her husband Darrel of Morgan City, Melanie Lucas and her husband Doug of Ball and Jodie Newman and her husband Allen of Natchez, MS; her soul mate and loving companion Dan Edwards of Port Barre; grandchildren, Chad Holloway and wife Joni, Chris Waltman, Sommer Simmons and husband D.J., Dusty Follmer, Garrett Thorpe and A.J. Follmer; sister, Evelyn Maples of Natchez, MS and special niece Laura "Sissy" Reeves. 

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

 Norman Milton Haigh Jr. 

Funeral services for Norman Milton Haigh Jr., 86, of Vidalia, were held Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Youngs Funeral Home, Ferriday with Waymon Swain officiating. Interment was held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015, at the Natchez National Cemetery, Natchez. MS,  under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Norman Haigh was born on Sunday, December 9, 1928 in Detroit, MI, and passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Natchez Regional Medical Center. 

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Norman Haigh was a kind, gentle and honest man. When he gave his word, he kept it. His career was as a farm manager and land developer. He received numerous state and national conservation awards for his dedication in conserving and restoring wetlands to benefit wildlife. He is responsible for planting thousands of trees, and he also discovered or co-discovered trees that are now state or national champions. One of his greatest pleasures was being outdoors photographing nature. He loved to share his photographs with everyone. His photos are so amazing, it was as if wildlife posed for his camera. He was an inventor, and is best known for his Self-Propelled Rotary Excavator, which is patented with the U.S. Patent Office. This device was invented to improve drainage on farm land. Mr. Haigh enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone who's lives he touched. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Milton Haigh Sr.  and Rose Young Haigh; and two sisters, Florine DuBois andRosemary Bossetti.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Marian Haigh of Vidalia; two sons, David Haigh and his wife Barbara of Natchez, MS and Stephen Kelly Haigh and his wife Melinda of O' Fallon, IL; two daughters, Marian "Bunnie" Haigh and her husband Peter of Austin,TX and Barbara Haigh Bamer of Natchez, MS; two brothers, Jack Haigh and his wife Chris of TX and Tom Haigh and his wife Sheryl of Kansas;  grandchildren, Andy Haigh, Kenny Bamer, Stephen Bamer, Katie Haigh, and Thomas Enright. 

He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Martin

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy martin, 75, of Wisner, formerly of Ferriday, were held Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel, Ferriday, with  Rev. Teresa Hancock and Rev. David Poss officiating.  Interment followed in South Central Cemetery,Wisner, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin was born January 31, 1940 in Oak Grove and passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015. She was a member of  Vidalia Assembly of God Church. She was a meek and but a truly strong willed Christian woman that loved gardening and flowers, and especially her family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Melton R. Martin; parents W.W. Smith and Pearl W. Smith; two sisters, Pearline King and Mary Ann Fairbanks; two brothers, Bracie Lee Smith and Sonny Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie R. Martin and Edward R. Martin, both of Ferriday; a daughter Joy Cobb and her husband Wade of Clayton; grandchildren, William C. 'Casey' Martin, Donnie R. Martin Jr., Brandy Adair, Daniel Book, David Book, Lacey Ann Martin, Seirra Elizabeth Martin, Shelby Lane Martin; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, James Smith and his wife Patsy of Ferriday and Freddie Smith and his wife Virginia of Hopkinsville, KY; sisters, Hazel Minor of Ferriday, Vina Jo Delaust and her husband Freddie of Jonesville, Melba Moreland and her husband Chuck of Monterey, Brenda Moffett and her husband Charles of West Monroe, and Linda Manly and her husband John of Natchez, MS.  

Pallbearers were Daniel Book, David Book, Casey Martin, Shelby Martin, Evan Prince and James Adair. The remaining grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Wilmer ‘Buddy’ Durham

Funeral services for Wilmer "Buddy" Durham 90, of Ridgecrest, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2015 at Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday with Rev. Don Tate officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Mr. Durham was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. A member of the 17th Airborne Division, he participated in the campaigns in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and the Battle of the Bulge. He received the American Theatre of Operations Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Arrowhead, Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a millwright at Natchez International Paper for 42 years.

A lifelong member of the Ferriday Church of Christ, Mr. Durham loved to camp, travel, fish and hunt. He was a beekeeper. He loved his family, who were dear to his heart, and is remembered as a good father, brother and friend to many. All who knew him will miss him.

Mr. Durham was born March 16, 1925 in Urania, to the union of Thomas Jefferson and Mary McDonald Durham. He passed from this life October 28, 2015 at his daughter Patricia Poole's residence in Monterey.

Mr. Durham was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Durham; his wife Helen Aldridge Durham; brothers, J. D. Durham, Raymond Durham, Farris Durham, Samson Durham; and sisters Marie Durham Bruno, Ruth Durham Garner and Lois Durham Rogers.

Survivors include his children, James R. Durham and wife Lynn of Peyton, Colorado; Ferris L. Durham and wife Wanda of Ridgecrest; Brenda Durham Taylor and husband Ford of Sugar Land, Texas; Patricia Durham Poole and husband Tim of Monterey; grandchildren Michael, Cherie, Kris, Tyson, Felissa, Amanda, Sam, Jesse, Rebecca, and Alanna; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers Clarence Durham of Jena, and D.L. Durham of Urania; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Mike Durham, Tyson Durham, Ford Taylor, Glenn Micheau, Robert Durham and Michael Durham.

Honorary pallbearers were Sam Martin, Nathan Nause and Josh Silberman.
