Annie Ruth Byrnes White

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Ruth Byrnes White, 85, of Ferriday, were held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 in Young’s Funeral Home Chapel, Ferriday, with Rev. Larry Whittington officiating. Internment followed in Holly Grove Cemetery,Wisner under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. White attended Westside Baptist Church and was a retired Register Clerk who loved working in her yard and cooking so she could feed any and all that came by.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Maudie Rials; her husbands, George Byrnes, Sr. and Hartwell “Buddy” White; daughter-in-law- Janet Byrnes; son-in-law- G.B. Bordelon; seven brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Merrill and her husband Randy of Monterey, Georgia Cavin and her husband Butch of Helena, AR, and Judy “Noonie” Bordelon of St. Francisville and one son George “Spud” Byrnes, Jr. of Ferriday; a sister, Velma Calhoun of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Tonya Bramlett and husband Jeremy of Helena, AR, Jeannie Archer and husband Jason of Ferriday, Dusty Edwards and Wendy of Helena, AR, Lacy Bennett and husband Daniel of Many, Brandon Bordelon and wife Taylor of Bogue Chitto, MS, Cassey Byrnes of Ferriday; five great-grandchildren, Hayden Webb, Maddie Webb, Miley Bordelon and Mistin Grantham, Baby Bennett, several nieces and nephews and host of friends.

Pallbearers were Carl Henry, Herman Rials, Jeff Rials, Jay Calhoun, Casey Calhoun and Johnny Henry.

Howard Eugene Herron

Funeral services for Howard Eugene "Goat" Herron, 66, of Clayton, were held Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday with Dakota Tucker officiating. Interment followed at Old Pine Hill Cemetery, Leland, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

 

Howard Eugene Herron was born on Wednesday, February 13, 1952 in Wisner and passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence in Clayton.

Verna Lou Barnes Wurster

Verna Lou Barnes Wurster, 96, passed away on Nov. 14, 2018 at her home. She was born in Concordia Parish on July 16, 1922. She married the love of her life Charles Wurster, Jr. of Jonesville, on Nov. 25, 1945. After receiving her B.S. degree from Louisiana State Normal College, she taught school in both Ferriday and Jonesville. Over the years Mrs. Wurster was involved in the Jonesville Women’s Club, helping to make her community a better place. She was the Regional Director for Stonecroft Christian Women’s Club as well as an active member in her local church. Her greatest love was to teach women how to live a Godly life by following the Word of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leonard Wurster Jr.; her brothers, Arvel and Dwight Barnes; sisters Patsy Haley and Hazel Sampite; granddaughter Charli Deanna Knapp; grandson Robert Ryerson and son-in-law Kirk Bean.

Mrs. Wurster is survived by four daughters, Lynda Deniger and her husband Ron of Abita Springs, Mildred Bean of Lake Dallas, TX, Cynthia Cimini and her husband Roland of Alexandria, Charla Knapp and her husband David of Natchez, MS and “adopted” daughter Diane Thornton of Pineville.

Also grandchildren, Patricia Cazenave and her husband Mike, Damon Bean and his wife Kim, Renee’ King and her husband Jay, Erica McLendon and her husband Jonathan, Ryan Cimini, Chelsey McMillan and her husband Brad, Shayne Knapp and his wife Rachel, Darren Knapp and his wife Macy and Nathan Knapp, “adopted” grandchildren, Angela Thornton Moore and husband Jamey and David Thornton and wife Jennifer. Great-grandchildren, Mikhail Cazenave, Tristan Cazenave, Hailey Felter and husband Steven, Layne King, Kinley King, Jase McClendon, Roman Knapp, and due in February, Hart Knapp and great-great grandson, Hudson Felter. She is also survived by one sister, Margaret Helen Pierson of Natchitoches.

Pallbearers: Damon Bean, Shayne Knapp, Ryan Cimini, Darren Knapp, Nathan Knapp and David Thornton. Honorary pallbearers: Ronald Deniger, David Knapp, and Roland Cimini.
