The first Dream Hunt Foundation Hunt in Concordia Parish was a huge success, with all 12 youth hunters harvesting a deer.

Jonathan Willard, who is over the local Dream Hunt Foundation, has been with the foundation for several years.

When he moved to Concordia Parish two years, he began the process of starting a local chapter.

The foundation usually has special needs youth as hunters, but with COVID-19, the foundation had to reach out to youth with a parent who died in service, or other youth without a parent.

“And to qualify you have to have never harvested a deer,” Willard said.

Dream Hunt Foundation is a non-profit organization that exists to make a difference in the lives of kids. It was founded by Jeff Warren in 2013.

Willard said a skeet-shooting fundraiser was held last September at Honey Brake Lodge in Jonesville.

“This allowed us to do what we were able to do,” Willard said. “This was kind of a trial run this year. We’re looking for bigger and better things in the future. We used Rifle Point Hunting Club, Giles Island and Tensas for hunting areas, and we appreciate those people. We hope to have 20 hunters next year. I am very appreciative to everyone who assisted. We have awesome members in our chapter.”
