Monterey’s Lady Wolves won two close games at the Quitman Tournament Saturday.
“We’re getting better each game,” said Monterey head coach Cary Shively. “We’re putting the bat on the ball consistently through the lineup. We still have some things to work on, but you don’t want to peak right now.”
Monterey defeated Hicks 7-4 in its first game and outscored Webster 6-3 in its second game in Quitman.
Against Hicks, the contest was tied at 4-4 going into the bottom of the sixth.
Hannah Hitt had two hits for the Lady Wolves, while Cammie Duncan homered.
Briana King got the win for Monterey.
King and Hitt collected three hits for Monterey, while Macee Green had two hits for Monterey against Webster.
Monterey High’s softball team collected 12 hits as the Lady Wolves defeated University Academy Country Day 16-2 in Alexandria Thursday.
Macee Green led the Lady Wolves with three base hits.
Zoee Young, and Raegan Hewitt had multiple hits, while Erin Tiffee homered in the fifth inning.
Briana King got the win, allowing three hits and striking out 10.
The Lady Wolves visit Avoyelles Charter Thursday, and play in the Grace Christian Tournament Friday, and face Ouachita Christian and Forest in the OCS Tournament Saturday in Monroe.
