Vidalia High’s baseball team put forth one of its best efforts of the season, defeating Bolton 13-8 in Alexandria Monday.
Bolton is ranked No. 5 in Division II select.
“That was a really good team win,” said Vidalia coach Seth Thompson. “They have a really good team. The bottom of our order came through, and we played good defense, with only one error. We put the ball in play. We got three innings out of Clay Watts, which is more than we expected. And Jake Spears was a bulldog on the mound.”
Spears walked two, but came back and struck out two batters to get out of a jam.
Spears doubled and singled twice at the plate.
Matthew Havard reached base five times with two hits and three walks.
