Franklin Academy junior varsity football moves to 3-0 following a strong defensive performance.

The Cougars went on the road and took down Briarfield Academy in Lake Providence 22-6 Sept. 12.

In previous weeks, the Cougars beat Christian Collegiate Academy in Gulfport, Ms 28-0 and Wilkinson County Christian School 20-6 at home.

Thursday night, the JV team opened up the scoring in the first half when Addison Spradling caught a touchdown pass from Kyler Roberts to put them ahead 6-0.

Early in the second half the Rebels tied the score at 6-6. Cougars added another touchdown when Roberts connected with Cason Cloessner for another touchdown to put the Cougars up 14-6.

Defense held tough, Sam Carrington sacked the quarterback causing a fumble. Carrington was able to scoop the ball and score putting the final points on the board 22-6.

The coaches commended the players for stepping up and playing hard. The Cougars were down a few key players but the team rallied each other and got a great team win.

Cougars JV will host Tensas at home on Tuesday night at 6.
