Franklin Parish jumped ahead of Neville 7-0 Thursday night in Winnsboro, but the Patriots missed out on two golden opportunities later in the opening quarter before falling to the Tigers 44-7.

Terrance Richardson put Franklin Parish up with a 65-yard run in the first quarter.

Neville fumbled on its own 25-yard line and the Patriots recovered, but were unable to capitalize.

Neville tied the game at 7-7 before Franklin Parish used a big return to get to the Tiger 9-yard line, but were unable to put points on the board.

“I’m not saying we would have won, but we could have had 21 points on the board in the first half,” said Franklin Parish coach Sonny Nason. “Then we had a couple of things go against us and the next thing you know it’s 27-7.”

Neville was coming off losses to Union and West Monroe.

Neville outscored Franklin Parish, 17-0, in the third quarter.

“We got a better performance in the third quarter this week, but we’re still relying on too many big plays,” said Neville head coach Jeff Tannehill on The Morning Drive with Aaron and Jake. “We’ve got to get better at third downs.”

Neville’s A.J. Allen scored his second touchdown of the night on a 75-yard run.

Allen led the Tigers with 129 yards and three scores on 10 carries.

Jaddis Smith also scored on the ground for the Tigers on a 42-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers out gained Franklin Parish 392 to 182 in total yards.

Franklin Parish lost five players to injuries in the contest.

“We were already thin,” said Nason, who had two leave with concusssions, one with a tweaked knee and another with a sprained ankle.

“Our coaches do a good job of getting everybody work during practice, and our back-ups got some playing time against LaSalle and Union,” Nason said. “We just have to have some guys step up.”
