Earlier in the season, Franklin Academy Lady Cougars’ shots were not falling as often as Coach Paul Work would like, but the slight dry spell came to an end in their first district game against Central, Dec. 19.

The Lady Cougars rained down shots with a convincing win, 57-18. Their record improved to 5-7, 1-0 in district.

“They played team ball and had good defense,” Work said. “Our shots started to fall.”

The Lady Cougars started hot, outscoring Central 18-3. By the end of the first half, FA had a commanding lead of 27-8.

Second half was much the same for the Lady Cougars and by the end of the third quarter the squad led 48-16.

“This is a good start to begin district play,” Work said.

Anne Elise Sartin and Katelynn Faulk led FA offensively with 13 points each.

Shelby Dickerson also had a solid game offensively putting in 10 points.
