Dear Editor,

Regarding Sunday alcohol sales in Winnsboro, I urge concerned citizens to be at the meeting on Monday, March 2, 5:30pm at the Jack Hammons Community Center.  The purpose of the meeting is for the council to hear input from the public.  Individual speakers are limited to two minutes each, so if you plan to speak, have your thoughts organized and stay within the limit.

From a business view, Sunday alcohol sales will benefit some sellers but that’s it.  Winnsboro will not suddenly become a magnet for national restaurant chains.  There will be no economic boom.  Quality of life will not improve.

Why must we take this one more step away from keeping the Sabbath holy?  We don’t.  Why can’t we set at least one little positive example for the Lord?  We can.  If the people will lead, the leaders will follow.  Please attend the meeting and stand for what you believe, for or against.

Regards,

W. Kelly Martin
