Mangham High head football coach Scott Wilcher said there were no winners or losers from the annual Blue-White scrimmage held Friday in Mangham.

“I thought it went well,” Wilcher said. “We are in better shape than I thought. Nobody was getting tired. I think we have a chance if we keep working hard to be very good on defensive and explosive on offense.”

The Dragons went 9-3 last season, defeating Jonesboro-Hodge 54-6 in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Loreauville 37-34 in the second round.

“I think we have matured a lot,” Wilcher said. “We were able to play 12 games last year and that definitely helped. We’ve got experience back. Our biggest question is on the offensive line where we will have four new starters. They just need game experience.”

Mangham will scrimmage at Sterlington Friday. The junior varsity for both teams will begin play at 6 p.m. The varsity scrimmage will begin at 7 p.m.

“This will give us more tape to look at and help us make decisions on who needs to be where.”

The Dragons open their season on October 2 at Lakeside in Sibley.

Following a game at Delhi Charter, Mangham will host North Caddo on October 16 for its home opener.
