Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with L.R.S. 3:1609 and LAC 7:XV.314 (A), the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, Louisiana Boll Weevil Eradication Commission, has established a boll weevil eradication zone, the Louisiana Eradication Zone, consisting of all the territory within the state of Louisiana.
Notice is further given that all producers of commercial cotton in Louisiana are required to participate in the boll weevil eradication program, including cost sharing, in accordance with the Boll Weevil Eradication Law and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, reporting of cotton acreage and destruction of cotton plants and stalks by December 31 of each crop year. A copy of the law and rules and regulations may be obtained from the Boll Weevil Eradication Commission, 5825 Florida Blvd. Ste. 3002, Baton Rouge, La. 70806, telephone number (225) 922-1338.
Notice is also given that the planting of noncommercial cotton is PROHIBITED in Louisiana unless a written waiver is obtained from the Commissioner of Agriculture & Forestry in accordance with LAC 7:XV.319(C). REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 9, 2019
The Mayor and Council of the Village of Baskin met in regular session on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 6 p.m., at the Village of Baskin Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Bobby Fife and Council members Cary Collier, Johnny Belton and Heather Chapman.
Also present: Town Clerk and others.
There being a quorum present, the meeting was called to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer was led by Mayor Fife.
Minutes: The minutes of the previous council meeting were presented by the clerk. Heather Chapman moved to approve the minutes as presented. Cary Collier seconded the motion. Yeas 3, Nays 0.
Right to Speak: Donna Wisenor Stephenson requested the council to allow their business, Baskin U-Pak-It, to secure a permit to sell alcohol on Sunday. Mayor Fife asked for a motion and second to bring this to vote. Cary Collier moved and Heather Chapman seconded to bring this request to a vote of the council. The vote was as follows: Nays 2; Yeas 1. The request was voted against. Kathryn Lord was to speak but called saying that she was unable to attend.
Old Business: Adopt Ordinance No. 0301, “An ordinance fixing the salary of the Mayor, Board of Aldermen and Chief of Police of the Village of Baskin. Heather Chapman moved that the ordinance introduced in the last council meeting be adopted. Cary Collier seconded the motion. Yeas 3, Nays 0.
New Business: A motion and second was made to pay all bills and obligations. Johnny Belton moved; Heather Chapman seconded the motion. Yeas 3, Nays 0.
The Village of Baskin Amended Operating Budget, Fiscal Year 1018/2019 was introduced. Cary Collier moved to approve the introduction of the amended budget. Heather Chapman seconded the motion. Yeas 3, Nays 0. The amended budget, FY 2018/2019 will be adopted at the next council meeting, May 14, 2019.
Police Report: The monthly activity report was given by Chief Grayson. He requested permission to hire a part-time patrolman. Heather Chapman moved to hire Armando Sanchez Jr. who qualifications and salary had been discussed previously. Cary Collier seconded the motion to hire him. The action was approved. Yeas 3, Nays 0.
Fire Department: Mayor Fife reported that the fire department is running well.
Further Business: Quotes were presented for a different carrier for the wifi hotspots used in the cars by our police officers. Service with the current provider is not able to serve the needs in this locale. Cary Collier moved to approve termination of service with the current vendor and to add a different company. Heather Chapman seconded the motion. Yeas 3, Nays 0.
Having no other business, Mayor Fife called for a motion and second to adjourn. Cary Collier and Heather Chapman spoke to this request respectively. Yeas 3, Nays 0.

On the day of sale I will sell a tax sale title to such portions of the property as each tax debtor will point out and, in case the debtor will not point out sufficient property, I will at once and without further delay sell the least quantity as undivided interests of said property of any tax debtor which any bidder will buy for the amount of the statutory impositions for which the sale is made, together with interest and costs due by said tax debtor.
