Franklin Parish boys basketball coach Lonnie Cooper did not have to look far into the scorebook to see the difference in his team’s 61-46 loss to Neville Friday in Monroe.

“They have three experienced seniors, and they scored all but six of their points,” Cooper said. “It’s a lot easier when you have leaders at those positions playing against a young team. We got behind and panicked a bit. Turnovers have been our problem all year. We have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball.”

Neville led 11-10 after one period, but outscored the Patriots 20-2 in the second quarter.

The Tigers led 42-19 after three quarters.

Drew Cooper led Franklin Parish with 19 points.

The Franklin Parish girls did not play because of COVID issues.

Cooper said the uncertainty of games is not a problem for him.

“I go into practice every day expecting to play the next game,” he said.

Franklin Parish’s girls have re-scheduled their game with Rayville for Tuesday, while Franklin Parish will play at Mangham on Wednesday.

That game was re-scheduled after Mangham had COVID issues.

Franklin Parish hosts Bastrop Friday.
