Three parish athletes made the podium Saturday at the LHSAA/Allstate Sugar Bowl Class 3A State Track & Field Meet hosted by LSU.
Katie Byrd of Sterlington, Jakiya White of Wossman and Madison Horne of Richwood all earned bronze medals.
Byrd was third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:24.38. Mary Nusloch of Sacred Heart-New Orleans produced a winning readout of 11:36.70 with Kelly Goff of West Feliciana placing runner-up at 11:47.78.
White was clocked at 2:27.00 in the 800m, finishing behind the Sacred Heart duo of Nusloch (2:20.56) and Olivia Boyd (2:25.43).
Timed at 47.33 in the 300m hurdles, Madison Horne joined Olivia Bundy of Church Point (46.74) and Megan Williams of Brusly (46.93) on the podium.
Byrd narrowly missed the podium in the 1600m, placing fourth with an effort of 5:29.78.
Michaela Waters scored in the 100m hurdles for the third straight year with a fourth-place time of 15.72.
Sterlington generated points in three field events. Abigail Raley was fifth in the javelin (109-09), while Madelyn Bozeman (8-11.75) and Emily Jones (4-10) were sixth in the pole vault and high jump.
In other events involving the Lady Panthers, the 4 x 800m relay team of Madison Colvin, Bozeman, Mollie Sims and Byrd was seventh (10:52.36); Allison Guerriero was seventh in the 400m (1:03.34); Jamye Broadway was seventh in the triple jump (32-05.75); Sims was eighth in the 3200m (13:21.67) and ninth in the 1600m (6:07.18); Annabeth Mejia was ninth in the javelin (82-06); Vantasia Franklin was ninth in the shot put (28-06); and Bozeman was ninth in the high jump (4-06).
Wossman also put up points in the 4 x 400m relay and the 1600m.
Paul’lazia Hollins, Dynisha Riley, Jordyn Driver and White registered a time of 4:13.05 for fifth place in the 4 x 400m. White also competed in the 1600m, finishing sixth at 5:33.34.
In other action involving the Lady Wildcats, Hollins, Anniya Daggs, Dayshia Wallace and Driver were seventh in the 4 x 200m relay; Wallace, Daggs, Driver and Ronisha Walker were eighth in the 4 x 100m relay; Nautica Caldwell, Ricki Newton, Laterricka Thompson and White were ninth in the 4 x 800m relay; and Daggs was ninth in the 300m hurdles (52.31).
For Richwood, Madison Hörne added a seventh-place showing in the 100m hurdles and anchored the Lady Rams’ ninth-place 4 x 400m relay team (4:29.19). Running the preceding legs were Jasmine Horne, Taylor Young and Lavontranie Godrfey.
Sacred Heart topped the team standings with 75 points. Brusly was state runner-up with 54 and West Feliciana was third with 50. Sterlington checked in at No. 10 with 18 points, Wossman tallied nine and Richwood six.
