Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a Monroe man on two counts of resisting an officer on Monday after authorities observed the suspect standing in the middle of Olive Street with two shopping carts.

When the deputies activated their unit's emergency lights, they saw the suspect flee.

After a brief pursuit on foot, deputies apprehended Rodney L. Coleman, 41, of 401 26th St., Monroe.

Coleman initially refused to identify himself or explain why he fled.

“The arrestee then began to (say), 'I'm gonna kill yalls ***,'” stated the Nov. 15 arrest report. “'Wait until I get out, I'm gonna beat your *** to death.'”

While en route to Ouachita Correctional Center for booking, Coleman continued to threaten the officers, the arrest report stated.

“The arrestee stated, 'I'm going to shoot your *** in the head, wait and see,'” stated the arrest report.

He was booked at OCC on the above charges as well as on one count of public intimidation.
