Monroe police arrested a Monroe man on suspicion of simple robbery last week after authorities received a complaint of a disturbance on DeSiard Street.

Authorities spoke with the victim who was in a wheelchair. The victim said Frederick Richard Griffin, 58, of 5909 DeSiard St., Monroe, approached him and threatened him, asking him for money.

“The victim advised Griffin then began to come toward him in an aggressive matter and he attempted to block him with his feet from touching him,” stated the Nov. 20 arrest report. “The victim advised Griffin then pulled him out of the wheelchair and onto the ground.”

The victim said Griffin was about to strike him with a fist until other residents gained control of Griffin.

Griffin was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.
