Monroe police arrested a Monroe man for aggravated assault and simple burglary last week after authorities received a complaint about a disturbance at an apartment complex on Auburn Avenue.
Carlos Gene Breaux Jr., 37, of Monroe, was accused of approaching the apartment complex in a “drug-induced stated of mind” and gaining entrance to an apartment by breaking a window, according to the Jan. 7 arrest report.
The damage to the window was estimated at $150.
“Once inside the residence, Carlos attempted to strike the homeowner [redacted] with a hammer during which time he (the victim) fled to the bedroom of the residence and locked the door,” stated the arrest report. “(The victim) also told me that he had allowed Carlos to stay at the apartment (two) days prior and he put him out earlier today and told him not to return.”
Breaux was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center on the above charges as well as on simple criminal damage to property.
