Monroe police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at the Charles Johnson Park last week.

Police responded to the shooting after 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the park on Bernstein Park Drive.

Officers located 19-year Elijah Meadows who was suffering from at least two gunshot wounds to his back and chest. Meadows was involved in an altercation just prior to the shooting. Acadian Ambulance was called to the scene, however Meadows died as a result of his wounds.

The investigation in this case is ongoing.
