Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a West Monroe man on suspicion of disturbing the peace through drunkenness last week after authorities received a complaint about a drunk man screaming at neighbors at an apartment complex.

Deputies arrived and saw Gregory B. Jackson, 62, of 200 Ridgedale Drive, West Monroe, sitting on a balcony, with a speaker playing loud music.

“Gregory had a heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and had slurred speech,” stated the Nov. 24 arrest report. “Gregory admitted to arguing with neighbors and agreed to go inside.”

While deputies were still at the scene speaking to witnesses, they saw Jackson exit his apartment and yell at neighbors in the parking lot. Deputies reported that the neighbors were simply walking to their own apartments.

“Again while still on scene, Gregory exited his apartment and began yelling at neighbors,” stated the arrest report.

In light of his repeated refusal to obey deputies' commands, deputies said they placed Jackson under arrest and booked him at Ouachita Correctional Center.
