Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on US Hwy 80, near Slocum Road on Oct. 21 shortly after 1:10 a.m. that claimed the life of a West Monroe man who was operating a motorcycle.

The initial investigation revealed a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by 38-year-old Christopher Jett, was traveling westbound on US Hwy 80. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle traveled off the road and into a ditch. After entering the ditch, the motorcycle began rolling over and Jett was ejected.

Jett, who was wearing an approved DOT helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
