Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a West Monroe woman on suspicion of shoplifting (theft of goods) last week after authorities received a complaint from Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Cypress Street.

The suspect was identified as Jimmie Benoit, 42, of 205 Hillside Circle, West Monroe.

Benoit told deputies she concealed several items on her person and walked past the point of sale without paying for the items.

“She said it was a stupid mistake because she had cash in her purse,” stated the Nov. 11 arrest report.

Benoit was wanted on charges filed in St. Martin Parish.

She was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center.
